Welcome To HEART

Heroes Equine Assisted Riding Therapy

We introduce people to horses to better their emotional state no matter the circumstances. Horses can, and do, have a way of calming, settling or just plainly making us feel better. Whether retired military, first responders or women who have had challenging lives, HEART offers a life changing opportunity. Flexible and individualized sessions allow participants to choose their activity level, from learning to handle and groom a horse to many different levels of riding. Passive involvement includes watching our trainers work with horses on the ground or under saddle in a variety of disciplines.
It all works! This all has a soothing effect. Horses have a gift, and that is to heal.

At H.E.A.R.T., Instructors use a Behavior Skills Training approach in their teaching. BST is an evidence based practice for teaching new skills. The four components of BST include: Instruction, Modeling, Practice and Feedback. Participants progress through sequential lessons and activities at their own pace. Emphasis on safety is embedded with each lesson. Practice follow instruction while each session ends with the participants reflection, a question and answer interaction and our instructors feedback.
While participants work towards personal goals, H.E.A.R.T. Helps them look through a horses eye as means to mindfully gain: Hope, Empowerment, Attitude, Responsibility and Trust.

At H.E.A.R.T. The “heroes” are the horses.

What is Equine Therapy

What we do

Our programs are designed for specific participants. From mental wellness to disabled veterans and even amputees.

Professional Trainers

our staff includes trainers with over 40 years of riding and training experience

Symbiosis

We have had at least a five thousand year relationship with horses and their natural ability to “Heal” is not new. It has been known to people who have interacted with them on many different levels for centuries. There was a time where Horses were used for travel, work, pleasure and to help us with our chores on a larger scale than they are today.

“Horses can Heal”
“Horses do Heal”
“Horses have Healed”

We can benefit form Horses in several different ways:

  • Passive Participation (Watching)
  • Active Participation (Grooming/Groundwork)
  • Riding

These three interactive actions have different degrees of benefit to participants based on the participants needs, personality and amount of time spent with our Horses. “Healing through Horses is a real thing” and as a Society we have barley scratched the surface.

We at H.E.A.R.T. Believe that not only can a horse contribute to bringing people back from many different challenges they have experienced but some of the causes of these traumas are because people are not raised around horses, livestock and a agriculture or ranch situation.

HEART Saved my life

Hello, I’d just like to thank you and all your staff at for my life changing trip to Arizona. Having lost my leg nearly a year ago I have struggled mentally emotionally and physically. I really was in the brink of suicide when I was picked for this trip. The lads I travelled with treated me amazingly. The laughs and banter which we all miss was a tonic. Their advice was also invaluable and it was great being around other amputees who understand what you are going through. The staff at the Arizona Cowboy College were so friendly, lovely and accommodating and I will keep in touch with in the future. The actual horseback riding was outstanding I lived every minute. Keep doing what you do and remember when you lay down at night that you have saved my life and you should all be very proud of what you do as I’m sure there’s lots of people like me feel the same. So once again thank you from the bottom of my heart.
